On Thursday last week I was honoured by a visit from someone whom I respect tremendously in the world of wine. Stuart Pigott, based in Berlin is arguably THE Riesling guy on the planet. He has tasted and written about Riesling of the world more than any other writer and is truly obsessed with the grape.
We tasted for 2 hours along with his partner Ursula Henzelmann who is also a very respected food and wine writer. Read below for his initial thoughts on the wines of the Okanagan. They visited other top Riesling producers in the valley at Tantalus Vineyards, Wild Goose Vineyards and Winery, Cedar Creek, Mission Hill, Quails Gate and a few others the day after us. It is great to see such validation of the quality of Riesling produced in the Okanagan Valley by as significant a palate as Stuart’s.
