2018 Cachola Family Cabernet Franc $28 ($24.35 Wine Club Price)
Located just North of the town of Oliver on the West slope, this block of Cabernet Franc cuts into the base of the hills that define the Oliver valley. The Cachola family carefully farms this vineyard to extract the essence of Cabernet Franc delicacy while balancing beautiful ripeness attainable in the South Okanagan heat.
2018 was a return to a much more normal growing season with balanced acids and wonderful freshness in fruit. Fresh and vibrant with red cherry, crunchy tomato leaf and silky textured. Always a crush-able style of Cabernet Franc.
'From Cachola Family Vineyards' west facing slopes, just north of Oliver, this cabernet franc is rooted into the site's gravelled clay soils. Pouring with a slight haze, reflective of its low intervention vinification, Cachola once again flows with subtle florality, dark earth, sapid plum, wild raspberry, balsamic sliding along a silken palate, framed with long, smokey, muddied tannins. Showing the earthen greener face of cab franc, this will appeal to those who seek out Loire franc. Take with a light chill. 88 points'
