Time to dig out a couple of old favs from the library. This collection is a salute to 2 extreme years, 2015 and 2017; 2 vintages that were compelling years for completely different reasons. Enclosed will be TWO bottles each of the 2015 Tertre Rouge along with the 2017 Storm Haven Riesling. Contrasting those two classics are two brand new wines from the home vineyard (Storm Haven): the 2020 Block 2/Gibssons Riesling and Cabernet Franc. 2020 was completely different than both 2015 and 17, and these wines fully reflect that. Every year is different, and so should the wines produced. This collection of wines really puts that on display. 

2015 Tertre Rouge: x 2
Aged for 20 months in French Oak with 50% new barrels, bottled without fining or filtration. This stunning property has perfect conditions for long slow ripening of Cabernet Franc and Merlot producing. Fantastic flavour and tannin ripeness while keeping brightness and balance. 2015 was one of the hottest vintages on record and produced a substantial and broody wine, highly complex and layered.

Violets, brambly blackberry and dense chocolate cake are kept lively by signature bright acidity and raspberry coulis freshness. 

'Not the best year for reds, being the hottest ever on record in the Okanagan. Unlike the moderate and long lived 2014, this year clocked in at 14.5 degrees. A 50/50 blend of merlot and cabernet franc from Naramata's Turtle Rock Farms. The cabernet franc was 70 percent whole cluster this year, belying big, deep, thick and plush black fruit and ample ripe tannins. There's a welcome modicum of fresh acidity to counter the intensity, though this giant wine is best suited to giant red meats and drinking now. 88 points'

2017 Storm Haven Vineyard Riesling: x 2
Grown at our home Storm Haven Vineyard, this Riesling was hand cultivated with minimal interference and natural low cropping to create a wine that truly expresses the Storm Haven Vineyard site. Every year this special site shows it’s unique ability to retain excellent range of acid and delicacy while developing great depth and complexity. This wine consists of five separate picks across two soil structures of course sandy loam, and decomposed granite with gravel and five separate fermentations.

Dried mango and candied ginger give way to ripe apple and remarkable viscosity as the mouth endlessly carries fleshy, fuzzy peach and huge acidity structure. 2017 was a great year for us and was an elegant and cool vintage, in great contrast to 2015 (and this year too!). This resulted in a series of wines that were fresh, delicate and complex with detailed acidity and tonnes of length. These should be wines with a long life ahead of them.

'This is the premium riesling from Canada's riesling specialist. Storm Haven is Alan Dickinson's home estate vineyard in Okanagan Falls, a stunning biodiverse site perched on outflow from a mountain pass, and nestled at the base of Peachcliff Mountain. It's easily one of the top sites planted in BC. Low intervention in the vineyard and winery, this was picked in three stages to best express the site. Driving limey minerality, apricot, white peach is held taut with a tight brace of acidity and rasp of broken stones. The palate is absolutely electric with riveting acidity, easily and nimbly carrying the RS along the sleek palate to a lengthy finish. Rainwater freshness and allure in youth (this is just a wee baby), this vintage of Storm Haven will be one that ages beautifully and for a very long time. 8.7 degrees, pH 2.77, TA 11.4, RS 53.5 g/l. 186 cases. 94 points' - Treve Ring, Gismondi on Wine

TASTE: Fleshy mango meat, dried mango, ginger, honeysuckle and acid, acid, acid. Endless, highly textured finish. Medium dry.


2020 Storm Haven Vineyard 'Blue Label' Cabernet Franc - x 1
SOIL: Sandy loam with broken granite and quartz
TASTE: Clones 214 and 332. Bright raspberry, dusty blackberry and sarsaparilla. Resinous, fine grained structure that carries on the finish
