The Palo Solara Vineyard, located on a gentle Northwest slope in East Kelowna is sustainably farmed and cropped low to produce fruit with concentration, complexity and elegant ripeness. The cooler site produces fruit retaining great acidity yet achieving fantastic flavours and full ripeness.
Each clone of this Pinot Noir was picked, fermented and barreled separately before final blending and bottling. 80% of the fruit was whole-bunch fermented using largely indigenous yeast, with no manipulations or additives, to produce an authentic, natural expression of the terroir consistent with our winemaking philosophy and values.
2012 brought a cool, wet spring that delayed vine growth early on. Mid-season was relatively normal but late summer was warm and dry bringing great ripeness to the grapes. Cool nights returned through the fall, which kept flavours and aromatics very fresh and acid-balanced.
